windows 8 64bit unknown devise for buffer.
did a default install with 32 bit and cannot uninstall 32 bit to install 64 bit

- If you are unable to uninstall the 32-bit USB drivers, you can try to upgrade it.
Go to Device Manager, right-click on Unknown Devices and choose UPGRADE:

Browse to the 64-bit drivers on your TNG install CD and upgrade to them.
The USB buffer must not show under UNKNOWN DEVICES, it must be listed under USB controllers and COM port.
- Alternatively you can also try the following drivers. Note you will have the same issue with this drivers if you are unable to uninstall the drivers or upgrade.

As discussed with Brett, if the driver update does not work then you need to bring in the buffer to re-program for Windows authentication to allow install of buffer drivers.
This is an issue that was reported with Windows server 2010 and 2012. You might get the same issue on Windows 8 64-bit.
