Required:
EMERALD Client install files,
plus the Firebird (previously Interbase) install.
Available:
The install CD is supplied by Datatex to the dealers
on request for the EMERALD Client software.
www.datatex.co.za -> member area -> third party applications -> databases
download Firebird.
Installation:
Add the extension to the EMERALD server:
Open the Emerald.INI file.
You will have to edit the Emerald.INI and enter all the
extensions that you want to be able to use on your PBX.
It will look like this:
[EXTENSIONS]
; Extension=Device,UserName
111=EXT0111,John Doe
Also enter the length of the extension, for example 3
ExtensionLen=3
If you need to dial zero to get an outside line:
DialPrefix=0
Now you can run the EMERALD server. You should be able
to enter a number at the top of the screen, then right click
on an extension and select dial. The number should then start
to dial. On a phone that has a speaker phone, it should put
the phone into Speaker phone mode and dial; on a normal phone
it will only start dialling once the hand piece is lifted.
Install VIP (Client)
Default path: C:\Program Files\Datatex\VIP
Install Firebird:
Untick the server option to install the Client Firebird.
Run the Client installation on a client PC.
The 'fbclient.dll' must be in the same folder as the VIP.exe. Default installation
can put this file in the windows system32 folder.
Do not run the emerald.exe program.
Open the DIALER.INI file and enter:
the EMERALD server Computer name or IP
ALSO SEE: How do I get the PC name?
and your extension.
The PORT number must match the Emerald.ini (on the EMERALD Server):
[DIALSERVER]
SERVERPORT=28000
DIALER.INI
[DIALER]
SERVER=GEM
EXTENSION=120
PORT=28000
ICONTRAY=1
ShowPopup=0
VIP.INI
Enter the database file path on your EMERALD server
[VIP]
DatabaseName=GEM:C:\Program Files\Datatex\Emerald\Data\vip.gdb
To test:
In this example, GEM is the PC name of the EMERALD server,
ALSO SEE: How do I get the PC name?
This will match the SERVER name/IP in your "Dialer.ini" file.
Please navigate the file path to ensure that the database is present
on the EMERALD server.
Now run the dialer,
you should see the dialer connect to the EMERALD server (On the server screen
you should see the client computer name appear next to the extension.)
