How do I install Emerald?

Please ensure that we know which PBX system you are installing on, we would
like to keep an up-to-date list of all PBXs that are installed.

The following is required for emerald to work:

The PABX to be used must support TAPI 2.0 or higher.
The TSP for the PBX unit must be installed and configured correctly on the
computer where the EMERALD server is going to be installed.
For example: How do I install DTP on a Panasonic KXTD?

Installation:

  1. Step 1

    You will need the :
    1. EMERALD Server and
install file on website: eml-server-update-1_2_9_5.exe or newer
    2. EMERALD Client install files,
install file on website: eml-vip-update-1_4_1_23.exe or newer
    3. plus the Firebird (previously Interbase) install.
      install file on website: db-firebird_win32-install-1_5_2_4731.exe
      Download and unzip:
      db-firebird_win32-install-1_5_2_4731.zip

  2. Step 2

    Install Firebird.
ALSO SEE section 2 in error: ...user name and password...setup a Firebird login...unable to open database.
Before you run the server, open the Emerald.INI file.
Run the EMERALD Server install file on the machine that
has the TSP installed. ALSO SEE: Installing the Emerald TSP
You will have to edit the Emerald.INI and enter all the
extensions that you want to be able to use on your PBX.

    It will look like this:
    Code: Select all
    [EXTENSIONS]
    ; Extension=Device,UserName
    111=EXT0111,John Doe

Also enter the length of the extension, for example 3
    Code: Select all
    ExtensionLen=3

If you need to dial zero to get an outside line:
    Code: Select all
    DialPrefix=0

Now you can run the EMERALD server. You should be able
to enter a number at the top of the screen, then right click
on an extension and select dial. The number should then start
to dial. On a phone that has a speaker phone, it should put
the phone into Speaker phone mode and dial; on a normal phone
it will only start dialling once the hand piece is lifted.

  3. Step 3

    Install firebird client.
The 'fbclient.dll' must be in the same folder as the VIP.exe.
    Download and unzip:
    fbclient.zip

Default installation can put this file in the windows system32 folder.
Run the Client installation on a client PC.
Do not run the emerald.exe program.
Open the DIALER.INI file and enter:
the EMERALD server Computer name or IP
    and your extension.
    Now run the dialer,
you should see the dialer connect to the EMERALD server (On the server screen
you should see the client computer name appear next to the extension.)

At this point you should have a working EMERALD installation.

Fault finding:

  • Fault:On the EMERALD server check the "Address" column, if this column contains a
-1, this means that there is a problem trying to initialize that device.

    TRY:
Check that the INI file contains the correct entry for that extension.
Also try to restart the EMERALD server.

  • Fault:The Dialer doesn't connect to the EMERALD server.

    TRY:
Check the Dialer.ini file, check that the correct extension has been entered.
Also check that the correct IP or Computer name has been entered.
Check the EMERALD server, that the correct extension has been entered and configured here.
Also check that there is enough licenses to be able to connect.
