TNG 64-bit USB buffer drivers for Windows

Postby John Richard Procter » Fri Mar 23, 2012 3:11 pm

Attached are the drivers needed for the TNG buffer to run on a 64-bit operation system.

usbdrivers_64.rar

NOTE: to have access to the attachment, you need to be registered and logged in.

Install procedure:

  • Unrar the drivers and save on TNG PC.
  • Unplug the USB buffer cable and re-connect:
    • if no drivers installed it will give message that new hardware was detected. Use the option to browse to where you extracted the 64-Bit drivers (do no user Windows default drivers) and install.
If installed correct it will list the buffer in Device Manager under Universal Serial Buscontrollers and Ports (as comport). The drivers converts the USB port to a COMP port.
    • If no popup for new hardware go to Device Manager and uninstall the USB buffer drivers. Once buffer drivers listed for USB and COM ports, please install as described above.

Software: TNG Buffer
Machine: Windows 10 x64
Drivers: usbdrivers_64.rar download/file.php?id=246

Problem: While installing TNGBuffer USB device on a Windows 10 machine, encountered a problem whereby the 64-bit drivers failed to install and thus the buffer could not be detected.

After extracting the x64 bit drivers to the location, inserting TNG buffer into machine, Windows tried to auto download the drivers, which failed.
We navigated to Device Manager to view status of hardware, and the USB device was detected as "unknown".

Solution
Disabling Device Driver Signing
After searching on the web, i came across the webpage which shows suggested we Disable the Windows Driver Signing.

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.
Windows found driver software for your device but encoutered an error while attempting to install it.
The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering.

Steps to disable the Driver Signing

    1.Select the “Start” button.
    2.Type “startup”.
    3.Select “Change advanced startup settings“.
4.Select “Restart now” under the “Advanced startup” area.
    5.Select “Troubleshoot“.
    6.Select “Advanced Options“.
    7.Select “Startup Options“.
    8.Select “Restart“.
9.A menu will appear where you can press “7” on your keyboard to choose “Disable driver signing enforcement“.
Now Device Driver Signing should be disabled, allowing you to install any driver you like in Windows 10 until you reboot.
