If TNG is not registered, the update will not run, you will get this error
message. If the serial number and expiry date is blank, then it is not
registered.

Please note:

  1. The update must be run on the TNG server (PC on which the TNG services is
    installed).
  2. The update file must be associated to the "ExtractUpdate"
program in the folder 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\update'.

    • Save the update file on the desktop.
    • Right-click on the file and select 'open'.
    • You will get a popup with the message "Windows cannot open this file". It
will also display "What do you want to do"?. Tick the option "Select the
program from a list" and the "OK".
    • It will now display a "Open With" dialog box. Click on the
"ExtractUpdate" from the list and tick "Always use this selected program to
open this kind of file". There is also a "Browse" option if "ExtractUpdate"
is not listed. Browse to 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\update'.
    • Once the update file, for example "TNG_za_1.0.5.1_Update.dtx", is associated with
"ExtractUpdate", it will execute the update process.
  3. When the update is run it will create a log file in the extract folder,
for example in the folder path 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\update\extracted\20080108103648'.
Please check the log file to clues.
  4. If the update file is corrupted, for example it did not complete the download
when e-mailed it could cause errors. Find the original update file.
