Overview:
- There are 2 types of TNG update files available:
- TNG version update,
This update only updates the TNG executable. - TNG rates update,
This update only updates the TNG rate books (files we use to 'calculate' the rate costing per call). The update will not effect the data file with call details and call costs.
You must connect to the TNG host PC to run updates. The update file will automatically stop the TNG service, replace the 'tng.exe' and/or ratebooks with the update and then start the TNG service again.
If you ran the Rates update and you want to check the 'new' rates, you can use our Cost Calculator. On the Home page select 'Cost Calculator' and do a test for the ratebook you configured under 'Trunk Configuration'. If you are happy with the cost file being correct, you can update the costing of the historic data by doing a recost. See forum post: How do I recost calls in TNG?
For the rates to cost correct your PABX must give off the standard output format. We translate this call data using a plugin. To see what is required to cost a call refer to forum post:
TNG Costing of calls
TNG has no functionality to edit/change settings on the PABX unit (all various models). TNG cannot send programming commands to the PABX. To program the PABX, (this usually requires a login) either via programming cable using specific software or via a web interface with restricted login access. TNG simply receives call details from the PABX and reports the information received.
The connection options for TNG to receive call details are:
- Serial (serial cable connected from TNG buffer to PABX comport)
- Network (connects via TCP to the PABX IP and smdr port)
- File Reader (reads call details in from a specified file location)
