How do I make a backup of my TNG data?

Overview

TNG runs as a service on the host pc. If you need to re-install the software, you will have to run the install from the TNG cd and use the back-up folders for the call data and settings.

Also see: How do I re-install/move TNG?

To backup the TNG system:

Please make a backup of the entire TNG folder located in
    'C:\Program Files\Datatex\' whenever necessary.

To ensure that files are not being update while you make a copy, stop the TNG service. Once your backup has been completed start the TNG service again.

    Please Note:

    • The TNG Data folder consist of '.dat' files which contains all
        the calls,
        user,
        department,
        extension,
        trunks and
        group information and
      is located in 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\data'.

    • This however, does not include the destination data and the phonebook entries,
which can be found in C:\Program files\Datatex\TNG.
See forum post: Copying the TNG Phone book from one installation to another
NB: We recommend that you make a full TNG system backup to keep all settings and information intact should you ever have to re-install or re-register your TNG.

TNG also has a feature were you can archive reports. You can then pull these reports from the archive, after it has been auto purged from the 'live' TNG - see: TNG and scheduled reports/archiving reports
