How to import Topaz data into TNG/TNGLive?

Postby Belinda Frick » Fri Nov 12, 2010 6:04 pm

It is not possible to import call data into TNG without the Datatex TNG Buffer being connected.

TNG Standard version and TNGLive Premium
The buffer must be connected to the TNG host machine and the software must detect the buffer, else call data will not be loaded.

For TNGLive (free version):
- buffer not required, but older call data must be imported into TNGLive outside office hours if the PABX unit does not have it's own internal buffer.

Requirements:

  • Use the 'File Reader' option in TNG,
  • TOPAZ/PABX3 PIP files to import,
  • The TOPAZ PIPE Plugin, If the 'PTopazPipe.dll' is not in the folder for plugins:
    PTopazPipe.rar

Download and unrar to find .dll file. Save in the TNG plugins folder - 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\plugins' .
Procedure:

  • To import Topaz data into TNG, you need the Topaz data in PIP file format. All PIP files loaded into TOPAZ is moved to 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\Topaz\OldPabxPip'. You can sort these files by modify date and then only select the files with call details you require in TNG.
  • Once you have your files with all the call data needed, copy it to the 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\import' folder. You may have to create a folder called 'Import' if it does not exist already.
  • Log into TNG, select the 'General Settings' icon, login with the technical password and scroll down to the 'Communication Configuration' section.
  • NB: Make a note of your settings before you change it to import the pip files.
  • Configure TNG to connect via 'File Reader'.
  • Configure TNG to point to the file path 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\import'. Since your file has the file extension .pip, you can configure it to 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\import\*.pip'.
  • Configure TNG to use the 'PTopazPIPE.Dll' plugin.
  • Click on 'Apply Changes' to save the settings.
  • To monitor if the calls are loading:
    • check the call record count on the Call List page or
    • check the last entries in the export file for the day of the import in the folder 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\tng\export'.

  • NB: Once all the data is loaded into TNG:

    • Configure TNG to use either serial or network connection to the PABX, depending on your original setup.
    • Change plugin back to the plugin originally used.
    • Check on the 'Call List' page that your live/bufferred calls are loading.
NOTE: While the pip files are being imported, no live data is loaded into TNG.
