Sound issues with ONYX or USBClient

Ensure that you have selected the correct devices(Naming conventions for Windows XP - but on other operating systems it should be similar):

  • Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panel ->
    Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio tab.

  • To playback the recording made: The "Sound-Playback" option should be the PC's default sound card or a sound card installed to play audio files. (Thus not USB Audio Codec)

  • To record the conversation: The "Recording" device option should be set to the 'USB Audio Codec'.

  • ONYX must be restarted to pick up the sound settings:

    • ONYX:

      Now close Onyx and reopen.

    • ONYX version 2 or newer:

      START -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS -> SERVICES,
      click on ONYX and then the 'stop' link (top left hand side).
      Once stopped, click on the 'start' link.

    Alternatively, you can restart the PC.
