When connecting with an ONYX to ONYXPlus, try the following:

Ping the ONYXPlus server from the ONYX PC.

Navigate under Windows in Network Neighbourhood to the ONYXPlus server.
Else try START -> RUN -> CMD, \\ONYXPLus\onyx (ONYXPlus server name and share, for example.

Make sure that you are using the ONYXPlus server as part of the datapath.

The DATABASE path should use the PC name as noted below.
DATABASE=ONYXPLUS:C:\Program Files\Datatex\Onyx\ONYX.FDB
In this example the PC ONYXPlus is installed on has the PC name ONYXPLUS.

You can also use the IP address of the ONYXPlus server.
ALSO SEE: Does ONYXPlus work with a DHCP IP?

Please note: When using domains, it could be setup to block the PC name
(this will vary from site to site, depending on preference of network setup).
Then you will be able to ping PCNAME and IP, but not use the PCName as part of
the database path.
