When ONYX recordings have no SOUND, change audio device

Overview:

    ONYX uses the soundcard of the USBTap to make the recording, but for playback it uses the soundcard of the PC. Therefore when using a USBTap, you need to select the soundcard of the PC for playback and the USB Tap Soundcard for recording.
Do the following in Windows:

    Select a different audio device by going to the
    Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio tab.
    The SoundPlayback option should be changed from the default
    e.g USB Audio Codec to another device.

    or

    Right-click on the speaker-icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
    Select Options -> Properties:
    Tick "Recording", select the "USB Audio Codec".
    Tick "Playback", select the soundcard of your PC.

    This is for recording and playback.
For ONYX to pick up the new sound settings from Windows:

  • ONYX(Version 1.*): Now close Onyx and reopen.
  • ONYX(Version 2.*): Stop/start the ONYX recording service or reboot the PC(to stop/start the service).
