Overview:
ONYX and AMETHYST client side recording, uses the same recording
device, the USBTap.
Recordings can be influenced by:
PABX Unit:
The soft recordings has been noted on the LG and Alcatel
PABX units.
The PC:
Some soundcards has a "Voice Cancellation" or "Kareoke" setting.
Both settings will remove the voice from the recording.
Make sure that it is not enabled, since this will cause
the recording to be soft.
Enabled:
If the recording is made on a PC with this setting enabled, the
recording will be soft, regardless of where the recording is
played. The should not be a problem with the USBTap, since the driver
does not have this setting.
Disabled:
If the recording is made on a PC with this setting disabled or
with a cardserver and then played on a PC with this setting
enabled, the recording will be soft.
The USBTap:
If you record a digital phone with an analog tap, you can get
recordings soft on the agent side.
When a USBTap is tested by Datatex, we place a sticker on the tab.
Above the barcode on the left is the stock code. If it ends with a 'H'
it is a digital tap. If it ends with a 'L' it is an analog tap.
Swop the USBTap out with that of one at an extension with no
recording quality problems, to check if it is a problem USBTap.
The Flat phone cable:
If the crimping of the flat phone cable was not done properly it can cause
one side to be soft. We use the inner pair(speaker) outer pair(mic) standard.
