I have my PC on one floor and the phone to record on another

The phone must be connected to the USB tap and the tap is connected
via USB cable to the PC on which ONYX is installed.

Please note that the maximun length for a USB cable is 5m without
needing to use a booster cable. Datatex supplies a USB cable of 1,8 m
with ONYX. You need to use an extension(USB to USB cable) to get to
to 5 m. If you need a USB cable longer than 5m, then you also need
a booster and USB extension cables.

How do I connect the ONYX for this setup?

You need to determine if you will be recording from
digital and analogue telephone headsets and handsets as well as
analogue telephone lines and two way radios with the necessary interfaces.

If you are recording digital and analogue telephone headsets and handsets,
use the standard ONYX (tap with 'H' on serial number).

Connect the phone's 'curley cord' cable between the USB tap and
the base of the phone.
Connect the 15 cm flat phone cable between the base of the phone
and the USB tap.
The USB cable (1.8 m) must be connected between the USB tap and the PC on
which the ONYX software is installed. The USB cable cannot be more than
5 metres and then you will need a booster and USB extension cable.

If it is an analog line you need to record, then use the analog
tap(tap with 'L' on serial number) and cabling.

Connect the 1,8M RJ9 - RJ11 between the USB tap and the wall
socket.
Connect the 15 cm RJ9 - RJ11 between the base of the phone and the
USB tap.
The USB cable (1.8 m) must be connected between the USB tap and the PC
on which the ONYX software is installed. This connect cannot be more
than 5 metres, thereafter you will need a booster and an USB extension
cable.

The booster and usb extension cable is available at most computer stoors.
