USB Device not recognised

Postby John Richard Procter » Wed Jun 22, 2011 2:24 pm

Windows alert: "USB Device not recognised" When inserting the USB tap for the first time.

  1. This is most likely a problem with the driver that Windows uses to detect the device.

    • Insert the Windows CD into the PC.
    • Choose 'Repair'.
    • Follow prompts.
    • This will recreate any damaged files and replace any files that have been removed.

For more information on how to do this, please consult your IT technician.
  2. Alternatively, the tap could possibly be damaged.

    • Test this by plugging the tap into another PC.
    • If the tap is still not recognised then its possibly a problem with the tap.
    • If you have a 2nd tap, test that one. If it still persists, the problem is related to the
      Windows software.

  3. This has been noted on a server, with no onboard sound (or sound card).

Windows did not want to detect the usbsoundcard (usb tap). It allow you to enter
settings to search for the driver, but cleared it before starting the search.
