Postby Belinda Frick » Thu Nov 10, 2011 3:41 pm

This post also applies to the following issue:

  • I have no sound on one side of my recording.
  • My recordings cuts before the conversation is over.
  • My recording has no sound.
  • My recording starts in the middel of the conversation.

You need to check the following:

  • the ONYX is connected correct (cabling)
  • Windows Sound Settings is correct
  • ONYX configuration

NOTE: Please follow the steps in sequence listed to resolve your issues.

Steps to follow:

  • Windows Sound settings:

ONYX needs these soundsetting to function properly, please see forum post:
Windows Sound settings for ONYX and USBClient

NOTE: Only proceed if the Windows sounsettings has been checked and adjusted as per above forum post link.

  • To test if you ONYX has been connected and configured correct, first do a manual recording - see forum link:

How do I configure ONYX for manual recording?

NOTE: If you are happy with the playback of the manual recording, proceed.

If any sound issue, please check your cable connections. On the ONYX install CD in the 'Docs' folder, you will find a document that illustrate the connections - see 'Installing ONYX2.pdf'.

  • For recordings to start automatically, you need to set it to untick "Manually START and STOP recording" on the ONYX 'Settings' screen and click APPLY.

  • To trigger correct, you need to set the Windows sound settings and configure ONYX Voice Activation Detection (VAD):

Set the Voice Activation Detections (VAD) value using the TEACH function in ONYX:

See forum link: How do I teach USBClient 1.6 / ONYX2?

NOTE: If VAD is not configured correct, then ONYX recordings will not trigger and terminate correct.
