Cannot retrieve recordings present in the recording folder

Postby Odette Danster » Fri Mar 02, 2012 3:43 pm

NOTE: This post refers to recordings made with ONYX standalone voice recorder and not when you use ONYX to playback ONYXPlus recordings.

Problem: When doing searches in ONYX, my recordings does not appear under Playback, but the recording are present in the 'Data' folder in Users directory.

For data path see: File path for ONYX2 recordings

ONYX connects to the listings.lst file to playback the recordings. If the listings file was moved or damaged (possible causes includes Power failures, power spikes, if PC was not shutdown correctly, etc. ) then ONYX cannot retrieve the recordings for playback.

The listing file must be re-created under the Data folder allowing access to the recordings.

Download attachment, password is 'datatex'.
RecreateListingFile.rar

Steps to follow:
  1. Close ONYX and stop the 'Onyx Recording Core' service
START -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

  2. Extract the recreate listing file using Winrar
Where do I find WINRAR/ WRAR?

  3. Save the file in C:\Program Files\Datatex\Onyx\Data\
For data path for your Windows version see: File path for ONYX2 recordings

  4. Double click to open the program and enter the password (datatex)

  5. The data directory and listing file path will display C:\Program Files\Datatex\Onyx\Data\ - please change this to the directory where your recording files are saved and click on 'Create file'

Once the new file is recreated, you may start up the service and open ONYX. The recordings should now be displayed on the playback screen.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
