Route of TAPI information:
Panasonic PABX -> Programming cable -> comport -> TSP -> Micro Soft TAPI
The Datatex software receives the TAPI from Micro Soft TAPI.
If Micro Soft TAPI did not receive it, we need to check were it went wrong.
- Check under Windows (if network connection):
Go into the TSP configuration (under Phone and Modem options -> KXTDA),
click on the button to test the CTI-Link, and if it fails, the
problem lies in the network connectivity (before TAPI sees the
information). If the CTI-Link in TSP configuration is not working,
restart PABX. - Panasonic tools to check if TAPI is received from the KXTD:
- Kxtdmn.exe: This is available on the TOPAZ CD in the UTILS folder.
The display with RED and BLUE lights will show that send
and receive is working. The zero counter means no communications.
Note that this programs simply confirms communication and not
that only TAPI info is being sent (all request sent/received). - You can also use the Panasonic TSP to check.
START -> CONTROL PANEL -> PHONE AND MODEM OPTIONS -> PANASONIC KX-TD TSP.
In the '[Options Section]' tick 'Validate' and then click on 'ON'.
It will show you the extensions on the PABX. If nothing is display
there is a problem with the TAPI on the PABX side. For the 1232
the comport is used for SMDR and TAPI. The PABX processor and
comport is one unit, if faulty the PABX is usually replaced.
You need to contact your PABX support company.
Note: Once testing is completed please untick 'Validate'. - Panasonic Call Monitor (version 1).
It will show TAPI information. Similar to the Datatex Monitor
program. It connects to Micro Soft TAPI and displays what it
is receiving from the Panasonic TSP. If nothing is showing
here there is a problem with the TAPI info being sent from
the Panasonic or the TSP installed. Make sure the correct
COMPORT is configured and that no software is accessing the
comport. The TSP will not lock the comport.
If no info in CALLMONITOR3, stop the TAPI appliations,
stop/start telephony, start the TAPI applications.
START -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS -> SERVICES
If still no info in CALLMONITOR3, try the following:
Shut the PC with TAPI on it down.
You can have a TAPI connection that is USB or network(CTI-Link):- USB cable:
Unplug the Panasonic TAPI cable.
Wait about 10 seconds, then plug the TAPI cable in again. - Network cable:
No need to disconnect if CTI-Link test was successfull.
Use above tools to see if the PABX is sending off the TAPI information.
If still no information, then:- we are not receiving data from the PABX - contact your PABX vendor.
- Panasonic TAPI cable can be faulty.
- USB port / Com port that the TAPI cable is connected on the PC side can be faulty - test the port.
You might have to reset the PABX. At this point get your PABX support
company involved. They should be able to help with the cable and PABX side. It
could also be a problem with the PABX port that sends off the TAPI information. - USB cable:
- Kxtdmn.exe: This is available on the TOPAZ CD in the UTILS folder.
Please note: To ensure all services required is running, use the TAPI ANTI-FREEZE (TAF) program from Datatex. However if MONITOR does not receive TAPI events it will not ensure that you have TAPI information.

Note: The PABX must support TAPI. This can be checked with the Panasonic programming software. Go to SYSTEMS and then check the system version or firmware. It will display a 6 digit number followed by an alphabetic character. This should be I or J or one of the next alphabetic sequence character.
