Is the PC receiving TAPI info from the Panasonic TDA

  1. Ensure that the TAPI cable is connected. It can be network or USB:

USB: USB cable, not more than 5 meters long
Network: Network cable and CTI Link Card for PABX.

    • For network connection with CTI Link Card refer to forum post, it will be similar:
Panasonic tools to check if TAPI is received from the KXTD

    • USB connection:

START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> DEVICE MANAGER ->
      UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS.

      • PANASONIC TDA must be listed. Panasonic has drivers for the USB connection. Please contact your PABX support.

      • Right-click and select properties, go to power saving. Make sure "Allow computer to turn-off device to save power" is disabled, else it will disable the USB port if no data received for some time.

Note: If the USB cable is unplugged and plugged in again or if the PC is restarted, then the port will be enable until no data is sent via the port which will put into power saving again. You still need to disable this functionality else the problem will re-occur.
  2. Run the Panasonic Monitor 3 program. If TAPI received it will list all the devices. This program is similar to the Datatex Monitor program.

  3. Datatex has a program called Monitor. It basically has the same functionality as the Panansonic Monitor 3 program.

To test if the TSP is working, run the Monitor program from the EXTRAS folder on the Topaz CD. You can also download the Datatex Monitor program:
    Monitor.rar
(Please unrar and save on the PC, before running it).

Press the build button and click on OK on the message boxes that pops up. If your TSP is functioning correctly a list of all the extensions and lines should appear in the window at the top of the screen. Now you can proceed. If it isn't working, the incorrect port might be selected or another program might have the comport open. Try to reboot the computer, wait 1 minute and try the monitor test again.

Please note: To ensure all services required is running, use the TAPI ANTI-FREEZE (TAF) program from Datatex.

    See: Installing Datatex Tapi Antifreeze:
    Installing Datatex TAPI Antifreeze\TAF
Note:

It has been noted that TAPI information was not received due to power settings on the PC. In addition to the USB port settings also check:

XP:

START -> CONTROL PANEL -> POWER OPTIONS
POWER SCHEME, Turn off Harddisk: set to NEVER
