How to install and configure DTP for the Panasonic KXTD

Install DTP

Overview of installation process:

  1. Install PANASONIC TSP.
  2. Install DTP.
On the TOPAZ CD in the DTP folder. eml-dtp-install-1_2_8_4.exe or newer.

  1. Install the TSP for Panasonic KXTD:

    PLEASE NOTE: First get the panasonic TSP to receive data before proceeding with the
    installation.

    You will find the TSP for Panasonic on the Topaz CD under UTILS -> tspinst172.exe, or
    on the internet [www.datatex.co.za-> support -> Login -> 3rd-Party ->Panasonic ->
    Panasonic TSP -> KXTD TSP]

    • Click on [START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL -> PHONE AND MODEM OPTIONS]
    • Under the ADVANCED tab the Panasonic KX-TD TSP will be shown,
      double-click on it.
    • Enter the COM port number.
    • Do not tick "validate".
    • You might have to restart the computer to save this setting.

    To test if the TSP is working, run the Monitor program from the EXTRAS folder on the Topaz CD.
    click on the 'Build' button and click on 'OK' on the message boxes that pops up.
    If your TSP is functioning correctly a list of all the extensions and lines should appear in
    the window at the top of the screen. Now you can proceed. If it isn't working, the incorrect
    port might be selected or another program might have the comport open, for instance the PABX3.
    Try to reboot the computer, wait 1 minute and try the monitor test again.

    Use the monitor program to check that DTP is receiving call data. Once the Panasonic TSP is
    receiving data, start installing the Datatex software.

    Once Panasonic TSP is installed and receiving data, lets proceed with installing DTP.

    On the TOPAZ CD -> DTP you will find a self-extractable file called 'eml-dtp-install-1_2_8_4.exe.'
    After installing the DTP from the CD, please upgrade the version with the update available on
    our website, http://www.datatex.co.za -> member area -> Emerald -> Dtp - Datatex TAPI Interface for
    Panasonic

  2. DTP Setup. (Log File: C:\Program Files\Datatex\DTP\dtp.log)

    • Run DTP.
    • Right-click on the DTP icon in the IconTray and select Show.
      A screen will popup with a few fields (date, time, ext, number, etc).
      Select Interface to enter the Configuration menu.
    • Under Settings:

    • Set the length of the "extension digits" given by the PABX.
      This is either 3 or 4 digit extensions.
    • Tick "Calculate ring times (for KXTD816 and KXTD1232)" if you are
      using one of the two models.
    • Tick "Calculate unanswered"
    • If your are using the firmware version 2.5 or higher, please
      tick "Panasonic KXTD-500 V2-5".

    • Under Account Codes

    • "PABX provides account codes" must be selected


    • Under Logging

    • Log File: C:\Program Files\Datatex\DTP\dtp.log
    • Log Level: Errors only


    • Under ISDN

    • Leave all empty if not used

    • Under TOPAZ

    • SMDR Enabled must be ticked
    • Pipe File: C:\Program Files\Datatex\DTP\pabx.pip (default location).
      TOPAZ will read in this pabx.pip file as setup under
      SETUP -> PROPERTIES -> PABX in 'PABX File update'.
    • Network enabled must be ticked if you want live data to be sent to
      TOPAZ
    • Host: 127.0.0.1 (Default for the current PC), or enter another IP
      if TOPAZ is on a seperate PC
    • Port: 25000 (Default TOPAZ port)

    Port:
    To check if the correct port was used: Right click on the icon, choose configuration.

    • Make sure:
    • Network enabled is ticked
    • and the port
    • and host is correct.

*** DTP has a 30 day trial period, thereafter it needs to be licensed. ***
