There should be instructions in the e-mail -
if it says "rename the extension" or something
similar to that, please see below:
Since most mail servers see files with extensions
such as .exe, .dll etc. as potential virusses, therefore
we have to rename it to something else.
Example:
If the file we are sending you is called
"Rates.Update.1007.exe", we will rename it
before mailing it to you:
e.g. "Rates.Update.1007.abc" or "Rates.Update.1007.ext"
or "Rates.Update.1007.RenameToExe"
1. Save this file to the location it needs to be run
from.
2. Click on "Tools" at the top of Explorer
(right-click on the START button and click on
"Explore" OR double-click on the "My Computer" icon
on your desktop)
3. Choose "Folder Options" and choose the "View" tab.
4. There should be an option similar to:
"Hide extensions for known file types" This should NOT
be ticked. (You need to see the extensions.)
5. Click "Save" / "Apply"
6. Go to the file. (Located in the folder you copied
it to in no.1) Right-click on the file and choose
"Rename". You should now replace the "abc" or
"ext" or "RenameToExt" to "exe".
7. Now run / open / use the file.
