TOPAZ can run on Windows Vista and Windows 7 32-bit operating system.

When installing, please note the following:

Windows Vista's User Account Control prevents Topaz from working properly.
The first option is to run the applications as Administrator as follows:

On Windows Vista - applications doesn't have proper permission to change files.

Check the properties to set TOPAZ to run as an Admin user,
Go to 'C:\Program Files\Datatex\Topaz',
and right-click on the 'TOPAZ' exe
and select "Run as administrator".
When you start TOPAZ up, it will give a message Windows does not recognize the
application,
allow it to run for TOPAZ to startup. You will only get this message the first time
you start it up.

Alternatively you can disable the User Account Control in the Control panel.

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click on Users
Click on "Disable User Account Control" on the left of the window
Now un-tick the check box next to "Use User Account Control"

Firewall:
When installing the software and User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, the firewall
rules might not be installed. Also the software may generate additional errors on
start up, since it can't access all the files without administrator access. Disabling
the UAC can resolve this issue.

TOPAZ cannot be installed on a Windows Vista 64-bit processor.

The Borland Database Engine (BDE) which we use to run TOPAZ is not
compatible with the Windows Vista 64-bit processor.

The TOPAZ database engine is 3rd party soft ware. BDE does not
run on a 64-bit operating system. Therefore TOPAZ does not work
on a 64-bit operating system.

Development on TOPAZ stopped 2008 and sale of the product
stopped end of 2009. We do support existing TOPAZ clients with the original
setup.

We know of a client that used a Windows 7 64-bit PC, installed
a virtual Windows XP machine on the Windows 7 64-bit PC and TOPAZ
is working with this setup.

Please note Datatex does not support this setup
as it was not part of our original development with TOPAZ.
