Why must I repeatedly setup my NIKON buffer to dump call dat

You only need to use the enable dump command once, "/Y0".

The NIKON buffer needs 7volt from the PABX to charge the battery.
If the cable between the buffer and the PC or the buffer and the
PABX is too long it will also influence the charging of the battery.
If a power failure occurs and the battery is not fully charged it
can run down. This will have the same effect as a reset and that
is why you need to reconfigure the buffer.
