BDE Install Error: ..system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications

Please note that BDE can not be installed on a 64-bit Windows system.
Please note that BDE cannot be installed on a 16 bit Windows NT 3.5 OS.

  1. Copy the exe onto the C drive and try running it from there.
  2. The exe file that you are running might be corrupt.
Try downloading it and then running it again.
  3. This could be a problem with your Windows operating system

  • Windows Compatibility:
The TOPAZ CD files are read-only. Therefore you must copy the
BDE folder from the TOPAZ CD to C:\BDE.

Right-click on the C:\BDE\Setup.exe
Choose Properties, then Compatibility,
choose your Windows operating system.

  • Windows operating system:

This problem can be caused by a missing Autoexec.nt file.
XP:- this file is in your Windows\System32\ folder.
2000:- this file is in your Winnt\System32\ folder.
Vista:- this file is in your C:\Windows\System32 folder.
A copy of the file can be located in the Windows\repair\ folder. Copy the Autoexec.nt file
and paste it into your windows\system32\ folder. Do not over write a file that is already
present.

Once the file has been replaced, try and install the file again.
