If you use EXCEL to create the file, save it as CSV (comma delimited).

A File can be created with the following format to import the telephone numbers into Topaz:

Number,Person,Company Name,Number Type

The Number Type is a P or a B relating to a Business or Private number.
If you do not have both Person and Company description, just leave the column blank.

Create a new file:

Open Excel and open a new file.
In Column A enter the telephone number.
In Column B enter the person name.
In Column C enter the company name.
In Column D enter the number type ("B" or "P").
Once all the information is entered,
click on "File", then "Save As",
choose the folder to save the file to, example C:\tmptopaz
enter the file name, example topaznumbers.txt
select the file type, "CSV (comma delimited)(*.csv)"
    Click on "Save".

Modify an existing Excel file:

Open the existing file, save it as for example, topaznumbers.

Now Delete the columns to leave you only with
Number,Person,Company Name and Number Type columns or
the ones available to you (right-click on the column
    header and choose "Delete").

Now "move" the columns to be in the sequence required
for the TOPAZ import. If the sequence is wrong, then
it will import for example, numbers into the Company Name
    fields.

If your column format is for example,
    Person, Company, Number, Type.
Create a new "column A", then select the "Number" column
and copy the content and paste it into the blank column.
Use the same method to "move" your columns into the
    correct sequence.

In Column D enter the number type ("B" or "P").

Once all the information is entered,
click on "File", then "Save As",
choose the folder to save the file to, example C:\tmptopaz
enter the file name, example topaznumbers.txt
select the file type, "CSV (comma delimited)(*.csv)"
    Click on "Save".
