Installing the SMSManager version 2.0.0.0

Required:

  • TOPAZ 1.7.5.4 or newer installed and working
    download upgrade from [www.datatex.co.za -> downloads -> topaz -> software upgrades]
  • Call Monitor 1.7.5.4 or newer installed and working
    download upgrade from [www.datatex.co.za -> downloads -> topaz -> software upgrades]
  • GSM Modem, Siemens (TC35I) is recommended
  • Sim card that has been activated
  • SMSManager version 2.0.0.0
  • Serial connection to comport of PC from GSM modem
Upgrade Procedure:

    Close all the TOPAZ Call Monitor applications.
    Close the TOPAZ master and all Client TOPAZ programs.

    First upgrade your TOPAZ.
    Open TOPAZ.
    Ensure there are:
    no error messages when opening TOPAZ
    and no error messages in the TOPAZ logs.
    [SETUP -> PROPERTIES -> RUNNING LOGS]
    Close all the TOPAZ Call Monitor applications.
    Then upgrade all your TOPAZ Call Monitor agents.
    Test each TOPAZ Call Monitor.
    Ensure that you can:
    send inter-office messages
    and update references or company/person details.

Once TOPAZ 1.7.5.4 and TOPAZ Call Monitor 1.7.5.4 is working, proceed!

Installing the SMSManager 2.0.0.0.

    Connect the Siemens (TC35I) Modem to the PC.
    Make sure it is has power.
    Double-click on "tpz-smsmanager-install-2_0_0_0.exe"
    to run the installation.
    In the right-hand bottom-corner of the screen, it will display
    a green square. Right-click on the icon and select show.
    If the modem is not connected or switched on you will
    get an error message! ... "IE DEVICE NOT OPEN ".
    ALSO SEE: When I open SMSManager I get an error "missing ...qtintf70.dll.."
    GSM Device will display your modem information,
    if it is detected.
    GSM Network will display your sim-card information.

    SMS Modem Manager:
    Pin: Enter the pin code for your SIM card.
    msgHost: The Host Name of the PC where the SMSManager
    is installed one must match the host name in
    Call Monitor -> Setup -> Router Host.
    msgPort: Match Port number in Call Monitor under
    Setup -> Router Port
    Setup -> Network, Call Monitor PortBusy: Display busy status (green if GSM Device info available).
    Startup: Display startup progress
    Number Format: Default is "local".
    Base Path: location where SMSManager files is stored.
    Version: Display version of SMSManager
    Modem communication:
    In SMSManager select [Files -> Show Buffer Commands].
    This will show attempts / communication with modem.
