It is always recommended to make a full system backup!
If you upgraded your operating system,
please make sure that your Windows user login has:
Rights to install software.
The user has full control over the datatex folder.

Note: BDE does not run on a 64-bit operating system. Therefore you cannot install TOPAZ on a 64-bit system. Datatex does not support this.
Follow these steps:
- Make a backup of your "C:\Program Files\Datatex" directory.
- Make a backup of your
"C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\Datatex Gems" directory. - Make a backup of these shortcuts.
a. C:\Windows\Desktop\Topaz.lnk
b. C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\pabx3.lnk
Now you can update or re-install windows etc. - Download the Bde.exe:
- If you have a TOPAZ CD, navigate to the BDE folder and run the 'setup.exe'.
- Some technician copied the TOPAZ CD on the TOPAZ PC when they installed TOPAZ on it. Check if you have a copy on your TOPAZ PC.

select "by clicking here" from the "Certified installers" section,
download the install bde (not the upgrade) - its a about 7 MG. - [http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/index.html]
Go to the BDE 5.1.1 section and download
"BDE 5.11 MSI Merge Module English Enterprise version (9,580,163 bytes)"
- Try the internet for BDE install version 5.1.1 [http://www.bdesupport.com/deploy.htm]
- If you have a TOPAZ CD, navigate to the BDE folder and run the 'setup.exe'.
- You will need the 'Topaz.ResetSerial.Install.exe':
- If you have the TOPAZ CD you will find it in the EXTRAS folder.
- Some technician copied the TOPAZ CD on the TOPAZ PC when they installed TOPAZ on it. Check if you have a copy on your TOPAZ PC.
- If ResetSerial was ever run on you TOPAZ, there will be a 'reset.exe' file in the TOPAZ DATA folder.
- Unrar, password is 'datatex'.
- Uncompress the Bde.exe and run the Setup.exe to install.
- Copy all the backup files to their original locations (or new PC).
[The default is "C:\Program Files\Datatex\"] - Uncompress the Topaz.ResetSerial.Install.exe and copy the reset.exe to your Topaz\Data directory.
[This is normally "C:\Program Files\Datatex\Topaz\Data"]
- Run the Reset Program and click on OK to reset your serial number.

How do I re-register Topaz - Now run Topaz from your desktop shortcut. You will get a message that there is a problem with the TOPAZ registration.
- In TOPAZ go to [Setup -> Properties -> License] and print the registration form.
- Fax this new, as well as your original registration forms, to us with your Cell Number clearly written on the new registration form. We will issue you with a new registration number. This will be sms'ed to you (South-Africa only).
- Enter your new registration number and click on Register.
