How do I reindex a database file?

  1. Make sure that Topaz is CLOSED on all PC's(including the client PCs)

  2. Go to the C drive and delete the 'tmptopaz' folder.

  3. Make sure that you make a backup of your data folder before using this utility. The data folder is usually "C:/Program Files/Datatex/Topaz/Data".

Check if the program re-index.exe is :
    • on your TOPAZ PC:
      in C:\Program Files\Datatex\Topaz\Data\
This program will re-index your Database Files. (re-index.exe)
    • or (Start >> Programs >> Datatex Gems >> Tools >> ReIndex)
    • Else, you will find the program:
on our Website (http://www.datatex.co.za -> member area -> login -> topaz)
    • or on the TOPAZ CD in the EXTRAS folder:
      re-index.zip

It must be stored in the same folder as your Topaz Data Files.
    C:\Program Files\Datatex\Topaz\Data\re-index.exe

Once you have this program in your data folder, run the re-index it.

On the program window, click on the "By Directory" Button.

Select the file that needs to be re-indexed and click "Ok".
    (e.g. Master.db or Tran.db)

Now Click on Rebuild. You should see the progress bars move as it
    rebuilds and re-indexes your data.

Once everything is done, the program should report at the bottom of
the window if it was successful.

(The program will require a tutil32.dll that is included by default.)

ALSO SEE: The re-index of the Topaz database does not seem to work.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
