Can we use Pulse Metering with TOPAZ?

Postby Belinda Frick » Mon Nov 29, 2010 10:55 am

Overview:

If your service provider bill is using pulse metering, you need
to check if the PABX unit can be set to pulse metering. For
TOPAZ to calculate the pulse metering PABX3 must receive the
pulse figure from the PABX unit, which PABX3 converts for TOPAZ
to use with the cost calculating.

Configuration required for TOPAZ:

PABX3 plugin for pulse metering:

[www.datatex.co.za -> downloads -> topaz -> PABX3 plugins]
If your "pulse" plugins are not on the list,
please send a plugin request to support@datatex.co.za and
attach the rawdata file.
ALSO SEE: My PABX unit is not on your plugin list.

TOPAZ must be configured for pulse metering:

Under [RATES->STANDARDS]
enter the pulse metering rate,
in the box next to "Use Pulse Metering".
tick "Use Pulse Metering" check box
Please Note:

TOPAZ uses either Pulse Metering or Time Metering.
The cellular routers do not give off pulse metering,
therefore only time metering can be used for cellular routers.
Therefore when using pulse metering in TOPAZ, all cell router calls
will have a zero duration and cost.

If your PABX unit does not support Pulse Metering:

The rates need to be configured per unit. Each unit represents
the pulse duration.

For example:

From 06h00 until 19h00 (local calls):
The first 180 seconds is charged at 3 420,00.
The next 180 seconds is charged at 1 140,00.
From 19h00 until 06h00 (local calls):
The first 360 seconds is charged at 3 405,00.
The next 360 seconds is charged at 1 140,00.

Example setup in TOPAZ is as follows:

The Rate is TELKOM A.
TimeTable is TELKOM STANDARD (06h00 until 19h00).
Choose per UNIT billing
Unit 1 seconds = 180, cost = 3420,00.
Unit 2 seconds = 180, cost = 1140,00.
Unit 3 seconds = 180, cost = 1140,00.
Unit 4 seconds = 180, cost = 1140,00.
TimeTable is TELKOM CALLMORE (19h00 until 06h00).
Choose per UNIT billing
Unit 1 seconds = 360, cost = 3405,00.
Unit 2 seconds = 360, cost = 1140,00.
Unit 3 seconds = 360, cost = 1140,00.
Unit 4 seconds = 360, cost = 1140,00.
