How does the PABX3 work?

Postby Belinda Frick » Tue Nov 30, 2010 10:11 am

How does the PABX3 work :
The PABX3 loads the PABX.PRF file to read all the settings, needed to run properly.
The COM port is then opened to gather call data.
The Raw data is written to a RawYYYYWW.TXT file. (Y = Year, W = Week)
It loads the Plugin (DLL) file to process the data that is gathered from the COM port.
All data that is successfully processed by the plugin is written to the PABX.PIP file.
Data that is written to the PABX.PIP file, is also sent to Topaz via the network.

Conclude:

Based on the processes above,
the following files can be changed or deleted while PABX3 is running:
The "PABX.PRF",
"PABX.PIP"
and the "RAWDATA".

These files are not locked by our system or Windows, while PABX3 is running.

The PABX3.EXE and the plugin DLL file are running on the other hand and Windows doesn't
allow running applications to be renamed or deleted.

To change the DLL or PABX3 to a different version,
you have to STOP the PABX3
and then you can rename, overwrite or delete the files.

At the time this document was written, there was no facility to automatically
overwrite or delete the PABX3 or the DLL.
