First check that you did a "Load Rates".
- To load the rates, click on "Setup -> Properties -> Rates",
- If you are in Botswana or Swaziland then "do NOT add local area prefix..."
must be ticked, else leave it blank. - Enter your area code
- and then click on the "Load Rates" button.
- Now select your Zone file. The files must be in
C:\Program Files\Datatex\Topaz\Rates".
If you cannot select the file from this directory, copy
it from the CD into this directory! On the Topaz CD
you will find the zone files in the RATES folder.
Choose your country folder, then ZONE. - Click on Open.
Once the "Load Rates" are completed you will get an
message "Load Rates Successfull". Click on OK.
To test if this is working use: - "Check Cost" or
- In TOPAZ -> RATES -> Standards, enter the prefix,
click on test. (when using a number in the test section
ensure that it is at least 6 digits long)
If this fails, then the Prefix X-Ref table may
be damaged, to fix this: - Run Re-index How do I reindex a Database File? OR
Rebuild How do I Rebuild my whole data directory? - or download a rates update from our website.

Topaz shows some area codes as local, when the number is a national number.
If the above has been done and the rates still
show local, then you must purge the calls and import
them again: - In Topaz > SETUP > PROPERTIES > TRANSACTIONS > Purge Prior To
Enter the date and click on Yes. Remember it will
purge all the data before and including this date.
Therefore make sure you have the pip files to
import it again. - Now, import the pip files for the period
you did the purge.
