--CALLGUARD is no longer available to new users. Support is available to existing Callguard clients only--*** Please Note: CallGuard does not work on ISDN lines.***

Overview:

In this document...

  1. What options are available to you when doing barring on a Panasonic KX-TD
  2. How to install TSP for a Panasonic KX-TD
  3. How do I install DTP on a Panasonic KX-TD
  4. What went wrong? Reasons why barring is not working properly

PLEASE NOTE:

To do the Barring / Budgeting Setup you login with ADMIN.

Use the REPORTS login for end-users. This will prevent users from
changing the barring or budget cost levels.

A: OPTIONS AVAILABLE:

Please see which of these options would be most suitable to your instance.

  1. Extensions (Topaz Budgeting)

Requirements: TOPAZ, DTP and BUDGET FACILITY

Extensions are barred. (no account codes at all)

    Extensions are linked to Users.

TOPAZ bars the user's extension when the user exceeds
their budget. The barring is only done on completion of the call.
That extension must then be unbarred before another call can
    be made.

  2. Pabx Account Codes (Topaz Budgeting)

Requirements: TOPAZ, DTP and BUDGET FACILITY

    Extensions are barred.

Account codes are linked to Users.

If you exceed your budget facility, and you dial from any
extension with your account code, TOPAZ will bar the dialing extension.
The barring is only done after the call finishes. That
extension must then be unbarred before another call can
    be made.

  3. Callguard Account Codes (Topaz Budgeting)
--Not available to new users. Support is available to existing Callguard clients--

    Requirements: TOPAZ, DTP and CALLGUARD

    Account codes are barred.

The PABX must allow all calls through and CALLGUARD will block the
calls as they are being made. The PABX account codes are not used
at all and must be disabled. Topaz will maintain the list of allowed
account codes, based on the budgeting.

  4. Callguard Account Codes (forced account codes)
--Not available to new users. Support is available to existing Callguard clients--

    Requirements: DTP and CALLGUARD

    Account codes are barred.

This is the same as option 3, but the list of account codes
    must be manually maintained.

The PABX must allow all calls through and CALLGUARD will block the calls
as they are being made. The PABX account codes are not used at all and
must be disabled. The listof account codes must be manually maintained.

B: HOW TO INSTALL TSP ON A PANASONIC KX-TD:

NOTE: If you are currently using PABX3, and want to replace it
with DTP, remember to close PABX3 and remove PABX3 from the startup.

  1. Install the TSP for Panasonic KXTD:

You will find this on the Topaz CD under UTILS -> tspinst177.exe

Or on the Internet:
http://www.datatex.co.za->Member Area->Login->3rd-Party->Panasonic->
Panasonic TSP->KXTD TSP

Go to START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL -> PHONE AND MODEM OPTIONS
  • Under the ADVANCED tab -> double-click on the Panasonic KX-TD TSP.
  • Enter the COM port number.
  • Do not tick "validate".
  • You might have to restart the computer to save this setting.
To test if the TSP is working:
  • Run the Monitor program from the EXTRAS folder on the Topaz CD.
  • Press the build button and click on OK on the message boxes that
    popup.
  • If your TSP is functioning correctly a list of all the extensions
and lines should appear in the window at the top of the screen.

    If it isn't working
  • The incorrect port might be selected
  • Another program might have the comport open, like PABX3.
Try to reboot the computer, wait 1 minute and try the monitor test again.

C: HOW TO INSTALL DTP ON A PANASONIC KX-TD:

  1. About DTP:

    What is DTP?
    Datatex TAPI interface for PANASONIC.
DTP is a TAPI application which retrieves the SMDR/CIL data from the
Panasonic range of PABXs. It replaces the PABX3 interface.

What are the requirements for DTP?
You need a PC to run DTP on, which has an RS232 connection to the PABX.
The PC should be as close as possible to the PABX. The Panasonic TSP
must be installed and configured correctly.

    What is DTP used for?
DTP provides SMDR/CIL data for TOPAZ. Using TAPI allows other TAPI
applications to communicate with the PABX at the same time, which is not
possible to do with PABX3. Other features include setting the
Class of Service (COS) for extensions, allowing the BARRING OF CALLS.
It can also be configured to send CLI information to TOPAZ for popups,
or to calculate unanswered calls and ring times on the Panasonic PABXs
which do not have this functionality.

  2. Installing DTP:

On the TOPAZ CD -> DTP you will find a self-extractable file called
eml-dtp-install-1_2_8_4.exe . Run it on the PC you wish to
install it on. Its default path is C:\Program Files\Datatex\DTP

  3. DTP Setup:

    • Run DTP.
    • Right-click on the DTP icon in the IconTray and select Show.
    • A screen will popup with a few fields (date, time, ext, number, etc).
Select Interface to enter the Configuration menu.

    • Under Settings

    1. Set the length of the "extension digits" given by the PABX.
This is either 3 or 4 digit extensions.
    2. Tick "Calculate ring times (for KXTD816 and KXTD1232)" if you are
using one of the two models.
    3. Tick "Calculate unanswered"
    4. If your are using the firmware version 2.5 or higher, please
      tick "Panasonic KXTD-500 V2-5".

    • Under Account Codes

    1. "PABX provides account codes" must be selected

    • Under Logging

    1. Log File: C:\Program Files\Datatex\DTP\dtp.log
    2. Log Level: Errors only

    • Under ISDN

    1. Leave all empty if not used

    • Under TOPAZ

    1. SMDR Enabled must be ticked
    2. Pipe File: C:\Program Files\Datatex\DTP\pabx.pip
    3. Network enabled must be ticked if you want live data to be sent to
      TOPAZ
    4. Host: 127.0.0.1 (Default for the current PC), or enter another IP
if TOPAZ is on a seperate PC
    5. Port: 25000 (Default TOPAZ port)

  4. TOPAZ Setup:

    Required: TOPAZ 1.7.0.7 or newer

    • Open TOPAZ.
    • Go to SETUP->Properties->PABX
    • Change the 'Pabx file update' path to
      C:\Program Files\Datatex\DTP\pabx.pip
    • Tick 'Auto Load file'
    • and set to every 60 minutes
      Under SETUP->Properties->Network/Frontoffice,
    • Tick 'PABX 3 Interface' enable
    • set PABX3 Interface port to 25001
    • and the Host IP to either 127.0.0.1 (if on the same PC)
or to the IP of the PC DTP is installed on.
      Note: DTP replaces PABX3.
    • Link the user to either the account code or the extension,
according to your barring option. [DATA -> USER]

NOTE: DTP has a 30 day trial period, thereafter it needs to
    be licensed!

  5. Registering DTP:

Open DTP.
Click on Interface -> Configure -> Register

Click on "Print Request".

Please fax the request form to Datatex at +27(21)592-4077

D: REASONS WHY BARRING IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY:

  1. The PABX is in programming mode. Some PABXs only allow one programmer
    access at a time.
  2. The barring levels that has been set in TOPAZ is not correctly configured
    on the PABX.
  3. TOPAZ has removed the restrictions on an extension.
  4. The DTP is not running.
  5. The PABX IP in TOPAZ is not configured to point to your DTP or PABX3.
  6. The TOPAZ must be open and the Timer ON.
