How do I change an existing cell router rate?

Postby Belinda Frick » Tue Nov 23, 2010 12:03 pm

You need the following items of information:

The trunk (line) each cell router is connected to.
The costs that the cell router uses. (Some service providers have
different rates for different times of day or week).
The peak and off-peak times and rates related to them.

Change the RATES:

Open Topaz
Click on Rates on the lefthand-side of the page. Make sure you
are on the Rates tab.
On the lefthand-side of the Rates page you will find a navigation
bar. Click on Last Record (fourth button from the left - Triangle
pointing right with a bar next to it).
Now page back through the rates using the triangle pointing left
(without the bar), until you find the rate that you want to change.

How to change the selected rate

On the left hand bottom corner is the different time zones (peak and off
peak) is listed under the 'Description' Heading. If you click on a time
zone it will show the rate info for that time zone on the right hand side
of your screen. These descriptions (for the time zone) each have a
coloured block next to it. Click on the first rate on the grid.

To view all the time zones per hour of day and day of week, you can click on
'View Data'. You can change the color to represent the time zone by clicking
on the time zone grid and then click on 'Change Color', click on the
color to select and then on 'OK' to save. Now click on 'View Data' to see
changes.

On the right-hand bottom section of the screen (above the navigation bar),
are all the details for this rate.
Information you need to make a rate change:
What the new rates are.
Is the rate charged per second or Per Unit (if per unit,
get intervals in seconds). If the rate is given per minute,
but charged per second divide it by 60.
Enter this value into the edit box labeled Rate Per Second.
Change the "Use Unit" To "S" for per second or to "U" for
per Unit.
Per second:
Enter the rate that is charged per second in the
"Rate per Second" Field.
Per Unit:
Enter the first interval's duration in seconds in the
"Unit 1" "Seconds" field.
Enter the cost for this first duraton.
Now repeat this for the next 3 durations. The last duration
(Unit 4) will be the rate that will be used for the rest of the
duration of the call.

Please note that this change will have to be made for each time
zone.
NOTE!If you make a change, click on the tick on the right
hand bottom corner to save the new rate for that time zone.
DO THE SAME FOR ALL THE ENTRIES WITH DIFFERENT COLOURS
(i.e. FOR ALL THE DIFFERENT RATE ZONES: PEAK & OFF-PEAK)

How to check if the rate is working

In TOPAZ -> Rates, click on the 'Standards' tab.
Beneath 'call cost calculations' enter a telephone number that
should be costed with the new rate. Remember to include the prefix!
Enter the day for the call. Rememebr that weekends and weekendays are costed
differently according to service provider.
Select the time of the call, remember tyo keep off peak and peak times into
consideration when selecting the date.
Type in the duration of the call.
The line number the router is on must be entered into the 'line' field.
Clik on the 'Test' button to cost the call.

If all the steps above have been followed, the call should now be costed correctly according to
the rates that have been modified.
