ONYXPLUS non-card solution error: Cannot connect to database

Required:
OnyxPlus 1.0.0.1 or newer
Onyx 1.2.0.3 or newer
ONYXPlus uses PORT 27005.

Download:
OnyxPlus: Provided by Datatex on purchase of ONYXPlus.
[www.datatex.co.za -> SUPPORT -> LOGON -> onyx],
Onyx 1.2.0.3 or newer. This is an upgrade.

Please check the following:

    Access:

    • ONYXPlus:

      The windows user on the ONYXPlus PC must have full control over the ONYX folder on that PC.

      The folder with the ONYXPLUS database folder must be shared.

      Default file path: "C:\Program Files\Datatex\Onyx\ONYX.FDB".

      Right-click on the ONYX folder, choose sharing and security:
      share my folder on the network.
      allow network users to change my files.

    • ONYX:

      In Windows XP and 2000:
      The Windows user on the ONYX PC must have full
      control of the ONYX folder on the ONYXPLUS PC.
      This needs to be setup on the ONYXPLUS PC.

      XP:

    Ports:

      ONYX uses port 27004 and Firebird on port 3050 tcp.
      Ensure that these ports is available for ONYXPlus.

      START -> RUN -> CMD, netstat -na

      In this example 'fbserver.exe' is the Firebird Service required for ONYXPlus.

    Firebird: Client

      The "fbclient.dll" must be present in the folder
      "C:\Program Files\Datatex\Onyx" on the ONYX PC.

      Please note the use of the network paths and notation.

      If they do not match the ONYX is not able to update the PLUS* paths.
      Tick 'Enable ONYX + connection' in ONYX for each ONYX.
      This could be an access problem on the network or incorrect IP/PC Name
      entered. Once this is sorted out the PLUS* paths will be updated
      automatically.
      Also check in the task manager that there is no OnyxPlus running in the background.

      Once you have changed settings, please restart the ONYXPlus server to startup with
      the new settings.

      If you still get the error, please use for example IBExpert to try and connect to
      the database from the ONYX PC. Place IBExpert in the same folder as ONYX.exe, set it up
      to point to the ONYXPlus database and run it from there. It will give you error descriptions.


      PLEASE NOTE: TRY USING THE SERVERNAME INSTEAD OF THE IP ADDRESS IN THE INI FILES.
