Symantec Backup Exec 2010

Postby GreggB » Thu Jan 17, 2013 11:43 am

Hi,

I would like to backup the data (Voice, Notes, etc) on the Amethyst Linux box directly with my Symantec Backup Exec 2010 Linux agent.

Please advise if this is possible and if it has been done before.

Can you please give me a step by step how to do this, and tell me what the login credentials are if any.

Thank you,
Gregg

Hi Greg,
There i no way to access the Internal Amethyst for Backups.

Amethyst does have the facility to archive to a external server running with a NFS or Windows Share. This location will contain recording, database and logs. Amethyst will copy all recordings to this location that was loaded into the system since the last archive was completed.

Please check the following post for more details:
Amethyst 1.6 Archiving

Hi Leon,

Thank you for your reply.

We have tried the NFS share a few times over the years, but it is not stable, and we keep on having to recreate it and run a batch file to catch up on all the backups that have been missed.

Can you please let me know if there is any better way to do regular backups of our recordings for off site storage.

Thank you,
Gregg

We can also now use a normal Windows Share.
The latest version of Amethyst you can select "Windows share" in place of NFS.

Hi Gregg,
Lizelle will quote you if you need our assistance, you can just give her a call or an email.

We do not put these updates on the Website, since some of them could cause issues, if they are done in the wrong order or the incorrect versions are loaded together.

Regards
Leon
