Critical e-mail: Auto Purge, Error selecting records

--------------------- CRITICAL ERRORS START HERE ---------------------
[2010-05-26 00:00:54] Auto Purge, Error selecting records : size of optimizer block exceeded
---------------------- CRITICAL ERRORS END HERE ----------------------

This is not a corrupt database issues, therefore "reclaim space" won't help.

This problem occurs if a purge is attempted and Amethyst has been running
for more than 256 days since the last purge.

Basically, Firebird 1.5 can only have 256 "conditions" in an SQL query, and
when the autopurge is run, it is generating an SQL that contains more
conditions (they look something like "where amtwhen like '2010-05-24%' or amtwhen like '2010-05-25%'...).

This should be considered a bug in Amethyst, but it happens so seldom.

The work-around is to purge fewer days (by increasing the days to keep live
until the oldest recording is within 256 days of the days to keep live).

Pull a system status report to see the oldest recording date.

To assist with the work around, please contact Datatex Support on 086 111 4351

Information required:
  • Date of oldest recording in live AMETHYST
  • Days to keep alive
