Do I need TAPI for screenshots/popups on a trunk solution?

• TAPI is required to link the line recorded on(trunk recording solution)
  to the actual extension in use (SMDR data). The recording card only
  knows which line is being recorded (no extension number available - all
  calls on the trunk is recorded), the SMDR data will have the line and
  extension number (will provide the extension number for the recording -
  only one recording can take place on a line at a time).
