How do I install AMETHYST 1.5 and multiple cardservers.WAN

Postby John Richard Procter » Tue Jun 21, 2011 9:08 am

In this example we have AMETHYST running at the main branch. There
is a PABX and an AMETHYST card server at the main branch. There is
also a AMETHYST cardserver at each of the two other branches, each
with there own PABX.

Please make sure you have the following specifications in order before you begin.

  • Pentium 4 or equivalent motherboard (Intel recommended).
  • Pentium 4 2.4Ghz or faster processor (Intel recommended).
  • 1 GB RAM with at least 3 year warranty.
  • Seagate 120GB, 7200 RPM, 8MB cache hard drive with 5 year warranty.
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP Professional.
  • Recording cards are full-height and full-length PCI cards, not PCI Express.
  • Ensure that there is clearance for full-length PCI cards on the motherboard.
  • Ensure that there is adequate ventilation across the cards and hard drive.

These specifications are subject to change without notice. Please contact Datatex to confirm
latest specifications.

The Main Branch:

Installation Downloads:

  • AMETHYST Cards:
    http://www.datatex.co.za -> member area -> login -> Amethyst 1.5 ->
    amt-amtcards-install-1_0_0_5.exe (or newer).

    Program:
Amtcards runs as a service on the Windows PC.

    Requirements:
    • Install the Smartworks driver for your recording solution.
    • Configure the recording card for your recording solution.
    • PABX3 and TOPAZ (Windows based) or SMDRLink (Linux or Windows based).

    Service Installation:
    • Close all 1.4 recording software.
    • Rename the Amethyst directory to Amethyst1.4.
    • Remove the Amethyst Cardserver shortcuts from the startup.
    • Run the 1.5 installation called amt-amtcards-install-1_0_0_*.exe
    • After the installation, the recording service will be installed
      under the windows services section.
    • A message should pop up telling you that the service was installed
      successfully.
    • Restart the card server to start the service.

    Service update:
    • First you will have to stop the old service.
    • Navigate to the control panel.
    • Open the Administrative tools.
    • Open the windows services utiliy.
    • Stop the service called amtcards.
    • Run the update you downloaded from the datatex website.
    • Start the service called amtcards again.[/u]

      Channel Configuration:
      • Log into the WebAdmin and click on the Configure Card server IPs
        link.
      • Enter the IP address of the cardserver in the text input and apply the
changes. (ensure that you use the IP, unless you are using a DNS)
      • Now click on the 'Configure Card server' link. This will open the
configuration for the card server. All available channels will be listed
and all channels will be disabled.
      • The first link will open a page with the log file from the cardserver.
        Paths sections
      • Click on the 'Paths' label to view the fields.
      • Work Path is the location the cardserver will use for recording.
      • Completed Path is where the archives will be kept before they are

      FTPed to the Amethyst server.

      Options section:
      • Click on the 'Options' label to view the fields.
      • Enabling 'Write logs' will fill the log file with all operations that
are taking place on the cardserver.
      • Min duration in seconds is the minimum length of a valid recording.
      • FTP server is the IP address of the server the recordings must be
        FTPed to.
      • FTP time gives the time the recordings must be FTPed. Leaving the
field blank will cause FTPs to be live.
      • GetSet Host is the IP address of the server that is running the
        GetSet application.
      • GetSet Port gives the port number that should be used to talk
        to GetSet.
      • GetSet Local Code is the local telephone code for the area the
        Amethyst is running in.

      Slot configuration section:
      • For each PCI slot that has a card, there will be a section that will
display the type of card and the channels it contains
      • Click on the 'slot' caption to expand the channels for that slot.
      • The first column is the device number or channel number.
      • The next column has a checkbox that will enable the channel if it is checked.
      • A channel can have 3 different types.
      1. Ext will tell the channel that it is connected to a extension
and the mapping should be done for extensions.
      2. Line will tell the channel that it is connected to a trunk
and the mapping should be done for trunks.
      3. Vox mode is for radios where the channel uses noise to start
        and stop its recordings.
      • The last column is for the line or extension number of the channel.
This is important for the call data mapping.

Set all channels for slot utility:
      • This utility is used to configure curtain settings on every channel on a slot.
      • On the right there is a drop down list with the slot numbers.
Select the desired slot to configure.
      • There are 5 different things that can be done to all the channels in a slot.
      1. The Enable option will enable all the channels,
if the check box is not selected, all the channels will be disabled.
      2. The Set as Extension option will set all the channels to
        be extension channels.
      3. The Set as Line option will set all the channels to be trunk channels.
      4. The Set as Vox option will set all the channels to be Vox channels.
      5. The Line/Ext Numbers (Auto increment from) option is to configure
the Line/Ext numbers if they are concurrent. Enter the number for the first channel,
the channels will increment with the Line/ext number.
      • Click on the 'Set button' to do the configuration for the slot.
      • The changes will only be saved when the 'Apply changes' button is clicked.

      User mapping section:
      • There are two different types of users. A user that is linked to a channel
or a user that is linked to a extension.
          1. To add a channel user, click on the Add user button.
            • A new line with empty fields will appear.
            • Change the drop down to the channel you want the user to be mapped to.
          2. To add a extension user, click on the Add user button.
          • In the drop down list, EXT must be selected.
          • An additional field will display next to the drop down list,
the extension number must be entered there.
          • Enter the Display name for the user.
This name will be displayed on the supervisor screen.
          • Client side integration (AQM):
          1. If the user is going to use client side integration,
enter the windows login name under Windows login.
          2. The CBS option is only for users with client side integration.
It is the calls between screenshots.
          3. The CNS option is also only for users with client side integration.
It is the calls to the next screenshot.
          • To delete a user, click on the delete button at the end of the user.
          • To save the settings, click on the Apply changes button.

Note: All recordings will be stopped on the cardserver when 'Apply changes' is clicked.
