Amethyst archiving to windows share.

REQUIRED:

  • The Amethyst webadmin requires to be on the following version 1.6.4.10.
  • The Operating System(OS) requires Samba File Share (smbfs) to be installed on it.
  • The Windows Share PC must be on the same network as the AMETHYST Server.

Steps:

  • Log Into the Amethyst Web interface.

  • Once logged into the System select Configure Archive Setting.

  • Select Network from the archive type.

  • On the network type dropdown please select WINDOWS SHARING.

  • Username will be the user which is configured on the share ,whom has permission to access the location.
  • NB. If a domain is in use comma separate after the username and domain=


    Password will be the users passwords which is configured for the share.
    The password may not contain special characters !@#$%


    IF THE WINDOWS SHARE IS PUBLIC.
    USER NAME: guest
    PASSWORD: guest

  • Host will be either the hostname of the machine or the IP address where the share has been created.

  • Directory is the share directory created by the windows user (Amethyst Archive)

  • Please note if there are hidden directories this may be a issue as the $ cannot be added through the web interface.
  • Datatex will need to be contacted to add the hidden directory to the configuration.

  • Once Complete apply changes you will be taken to the home screen.

  • Select configure archive settings and run a test connection

  • Amethyst will respond with a test connection result.

It has been noted in AMETHYST Webadmin 1.6.4.17 that you do not have the option to enter NFS or Windows Share details.

You will need to contact Datatex Support to assist with the configuration and they need SSH access to the AMETHYST server.
