Drive is already initialized and may have data after running

Postby John Richard Procter » Mon May 30, 2011 12:49 pm

Overview
The driveinfo program is available from Datatex on request. You may
contact support@datatex.co.za

The error message if it cannot find a blank drive is always
"Error: Drive is already initialized and may have data".

If there's no drive, it will print this message. The driveinfo update is always accurate.

  1. If the driveinfo didn't pick up the drive at all, then it's not a Master / Slave jumper issue.
  2. If it picked up the drive as Slave, it would have appeared as "hdb" or "hdd".
  3. If the drive was on the wrong IDE controller, it would be "hdc" or "hdd".

You should restart Amethyst after changing the archive drive.
Amethyst won't pick it up if the server was booted first and then the drive was added.
