Very important!: Shielded Cat5 cable that is properly earthed on both sides. - Suggested cable lengths: 4 meters
- Pin layouts:
- Make sure that the cable is disconnected or the PC is off before you connect
it to the PRI.
On the Telecom chrono-block, there will be 2 pairs of wires, CUSTOMER TX OUT,
and CUSTOMER RX IN.
Turn the RJ-45 connector so that the clip points downwards, and the
cable is towards your body. The pins are numbered from the left,
starting at 1. We are only interested in pins 1,2,4 and 5.
- 4-wire cables
On the cables supplied by Datatex, pin 1 is a YELLOW wire, pin 2 is a GREEN
wire, pin 4 is a BLACK wire, and pin 5 is a YELLOW wire. Just remember that
the YELLOW wire in the middle is pin 5, and the YELLOW wire at the end is
pin 1.
Connect pin 1 of the RJ45 (YELLOW wire) to pin 2 of the CUSTOMER TX OUT.
Connect pin 2 of the RJ45 (GREEN wire) to pin 1 of the CUSTOMER TX OUT.
Connect pin 4 of the RJ45 (BLACK wire) to pin 2 of the CUSTOMER RX IN.
Connect pin 5 of the RJ45 (YELLOW wire) to pin 1 of the CUSTOMER RX IN. - 8-wire cables
On the cables supplied by Datatex, pin 1 is a GRAY wire, pin 2 is an ORANGE
wire, pin 4 is a RED wire, and pin 5 is a GREEN wire.
Connect pin 1 of the RJ45 (GRAY wire) to pin 2 of the CUSTOMER TX OUT.
Connect pin 2 of the RJ45 (ORANGE wire) to pin 1 of the CUSTOMER TX OUT.
Connect pin 4 of the RJ45 (RED wire) to pin 2 of the CUSTOMER RX IN.
Connect pin 5 of the RJ45 (GREEN wire) to pin 1 of the CUSTOMER RX IN.
- Plug the cable into the server, and switch it on.
When the Amethyst PRI software is started, the light on the card must turn green.
