These instructions are to update the Interbase database software
running in an Amethyst Server Installation.
Please read this document before starting and ensure that you
understand what you will need to do.
The Interbase Server is only installed on the Amethyst Server machine.
The Interbase Client is installed on each PC that uses an Amethyst Supervisor.
Any workstation that has any database connections needs to be updated
before you continue using the Amethyst Software.
The Following Software uses database connections:
Server
Amethyst Server
Amethyst Sweeper
Movedata
AmtBackup
AmtArchive
AmtUpgrd
Client
Amethyst Supervisor
Interbase Server Update Instructions:
1. Stop all running programs that use Interbase.
2. Uninstall Interbase. ( using the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs)
3. Open Windows File Search and search for GDS32.DLL on ALL drives.
If any files are found, you can back these files up by zipping them and
then delete the files afterwards.
4. Run the Interbase Install program.
5. On the screen where you can select the components to install, uncheck
the last 3 check boxes.
6. Continue with the rest of the installation.
7. Before starting your Server applications up again, ensure that the Client
Update on the workstations has been done as well.
Interbase Client Update Instructions:
1. Stop all running programs that use Interbase.
2. Uninstall Interbase. ( using the Control Panel's Add remove Programs)
3. Open Windows File Search and search for GDS32.DLL on ALL drives.
If any files are found, you can back these files up by zipping them and
then delete the files afterwards.
4. Run the Interbase Install program.
5. On the screen where you can select the components to install, uncheck
all the options except the "Interbase Client" Option.
6. Now continue with the installation.
Once all the Client Stations has been updated, the Server Software can be
started again and the Client Software can be started as well.
If you are unsure that the GDS32.DLL file is correct, the version should be:
