Add extension: Trunk side recording - Avaya PABX and CSTA

Postby Belinda Frick » Mon Feb 27, 2012 12:24 pm

I am using a trunk side recording solution with an Avaya PABX and CSTA for call details.

Trunk side recordings will record all calls via the trunks enabled for recording. Recordings made will not have an extension number. We need to get call details from the PABX to get the extension number. If no call details tied to the recording, it will show EXT and can reject due to licensing.

Required:

  • AMETHYST licenses for number of extensions to be added for recording.

    How do I check number of licenses available?

  • Enough license on the AVAYA PABX side to monitor the Avaya devices to be recorded.
    Avaya support can confirm this for you.

Steps to follow:

  • Add the extension number to the device list in AMETHYST.

    How do I remove and add a physical device in AMETHYST 1.6?

  • To display a user name, you need to configure the extension number and user name under 'Configure Virtual Extension'.

    How do I configure virtual extensions in AMETHYST?

  • Call details to supply extension number:

    The CSTA will get the call details from the AVAYA. This software runs on the AMETHYST server and does not have an interface for configuration or to view it's logs.

    To see if start/stop messages sent for call details you need to enable verbose logging for the AMETHYST server:

    Example of a 'tsapi_call_handler.log' entry
    Code: Select all
    2012-02-27 11:42:06.945 1.0.0.0 Received "ESTABLISHED,4211FC2B,2508,0112595131,C62"
    2012-02-27 11:42:06.945 1.0.0.0 SendToAmethyst: TAPI|START|2508|C0062|0112595131||O

    If AMETHYST receives this call details from the CSTA, the server log will have the following entries:
    Code: Select all
    [2012-02-27 11:52:11.905]  [Version 1.6.3.22]TAPI stop sent to :  Virtual = 2508
    [2012-02-27 11:52:16.178]  [Version 1.6.3.22]UDPServerUDPRead: Received "TAPI|STOP|R:2508|0112595131||141:50:23||2012-02-21|14:01:52||C0051|O||||" from IP 127.0.0.1
    [2012-02-27 11:52:16.181]  [Version 1.6.3.22]TAPI stop sent to :  Virtual = 2508

    NOTE: in this example 2508 is the extension number.

    How do I enable verbose logging for AMETHYST server?

    To view the log file:

    AMETHYST webadmin Home page, click on View Logs in the 'System' block. Select the required date and click on 'server'.

    To test if you get call details, enable verbose logging for AMETHYST server and make a test call. Check in the server log if you see the call details. If you get no call deails for your test call, please log a support call with Datatex.

  • Check on the Device List if your test cal loaded. Next to the extension it displays the date of the last recording loaded, if blank no recording has ever been loaded. If no recording loaded, go to 'View Call History' on the Home page and click on the sweeper log link (top left hand side of 'View Call History' screen) to see what the problem could be. If no entries, check the Reject log for time of the test call for any error messages.

    To download log file see How to download logs from amethyst web admin
NOTE:

To access the recordings, your Supervisor needs access to the user name of the extension added - this is the user names you added under 'Configure Virtual Extension'. Once a recording has been loaded for this user name it will be available under 'Configure Supervisor' to add access to it.
