Can I use AMTClient on a laptop?

Postby Belinda Frick » Tue Apr 24, 2012 9:28 am

We want to replace our desktop PCs with laptops. We are using a Mitel PABX with the AMETHYST CRE recording solution.

It is preferred to have a work station when using AMTClient. If you replace it with a laptop, please keep the folowing in mind:

  • AMETHYST records the conversation on a central server (where amtmitelcre is running). You do not need a PC for each agent to be recorded. The Mitel phone must just be configured to point to the SRC server, see point 3 "The Mitel Phone(Non-Datatex):" in the section "Configuration required on 3rd party software:" in forum post: CRE recording: I want to add extension to be recorded

  • If you run AMTClient for popups to enter notes, you will need a PC for each agent that needs this functionality. If you use a laptop that get removed and re-connected to the network, please keep in mind:

    • AMETHYST does a check to see if AMTClient is running, if it cannot find AMTClient it will send out a critical e-mail, see forum post: Critical e-mail: client software down

NOTE: To not receive these e-mails you can disable it, BUT then you will not receive any admin critical e-mails. See forum post: How do I stop AMETHYST Server from sending e-mails?. To disable the client software down e-mail only remove the admin e-mail address.

    • AMETHYST needs to know for which extension it must send the popup to enter notes. The extension number configuration is on the agent PC. Therefore you need to use the same phone when you make calls (as per your AMTClient configuration).

Explained: If the AMTClient on you laptop is configured for extension 111 and you connect your laptop and make phone calls from extension 222, the popup will be sent to the AMTClient for 222 (if on the network). You will does not receive a popup (unless someone else is phoning from 'your' extension, which is 111 as per AMTClient).

    • The Mitel phone uses up a network point. It has the feature to connect your PC to the phone and acts as a switch. This allows you to put your PC on the network without needing a second network point. If you use the laptop, you will have to connect the PC to the phone unless you have a second network point. NOTE: the laptop must be placed on the same network as AMETHYST to allow communication with AMETHYST for popups.
