Active Listning: I have no player displayed

Firstly, make sure that you met the requirements for live listening.

ALSO SEE: AMETHYST Supervisor: How do I do a live listen?

If that does not resolve your problem, try the following:

Internet Explorer: Manage Add-Ons:

  • Open Internet Explorer and click on the Tools Menu.
    Select Internet Options.
  • Click on the Programs Tab on the Internet Options window and click Manage Add-ons. It may take a couple of seconds for all the add-ons to display.
  • Look for the "Microsoft HTML Document" ActiveX Control and click on it.
  • under Settings, click "Disable".
Click on the OK button and close the Internet Options window.
  • Now restart your internet Explorer and try to listen again.
This seems to be a known problem with the Internet Explorer browser when the media player is embedded in the html code. One solution is to re-install Windows Media Player 9 or 10. This however does not always resolve the problem or it might work and re-occur again.

We had a case where QuickTime was installed on a laptop and it was disabled. On this PC the Supervisor did not display the Windows Media Player for live listening. After uninstalling QuickTime (not iTunes) it did display the Windows Media Player again.

It could also be another application which is influencing the Windows Media Player display in the AMETHYST Supervisor. If so it will vary from PC to PC and in sequence of installing software on the PC.
