Overview:
The DriveInfo upload is available to AMETHYST certified technician on request
from support@datatex.co.za. It is used to determine if the drive is setup as
the Linux operating system expects it to be.
Explanation of DriveInfo output sample below:
**********************************************
* Amethyst drive information *
**********************************************
Physical drives found: 4
sda: SATA/SCSI drive 1
sdb: SATA/SCSI drive 2
sdc: SATA/SCSI drive 3
hdb: IDE Primary slave
Main drive is sda: SATA/SCSI drive 1
ERROR: System / Amethyst archive drive mismatch
System is configured with archive drive hda: IDE Primary master
Amethyst is configured with archive drive hdb: IDE Primary slave
**********************************************
There are 3 things that must match. PHYSICAL, SYSTEM and AMETHYST:
hdb: IDE Primary slave: is the PHYSICAL configuration,
detected when the machine started up.
System is configured ... hda: IDE Primary master is
the SYSTEM configuration (i.e. Linux).
Amethyst is configured ... hdb: IDE Primary slave is
the AMETHYST configuration.
Al 3 must match. If not, you can only change the PHYSICAL configuration
(dip switches). The SYSTEM and AMETHYST configuration must always match,
if not please contact support by e-mail, support@datatex.co.za.
The "System is configured with archive drive hda: IDE Primary master "
refers to the Linux operating system and "Amethyst is configured with
archive drive hdb: IDE Primary slave" refers to the AMETHYST configuration.
Therefore you need to change the physical drive to match what the
operating system is expecting. The dip switches of the harddrive must
be set to "Primary master" and not primary slave as is currently.
In this example the AMETHYST configuration must also be changed to match
the SYSTEM configuration. Contact support as explained.
