How do I get the MAC address of AMETHYST

Postby Belinda Frick » Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:07 am

AMETHYST has a static IP. In AMETHYST webadmin under
'Configure Network' you can see the server IP and the
hostname.

Ping the AMETHYST server

Then do an

arp -a command

It will show the corresponding IP address with the MAC of that IP.

192.168.15.16 00-16-76-4f-c3-97 dynamic
192.168.15.61 00-18-4d-e9-d2-40 dynamic

192.168.15.71 00-18-4d-e9-d6-59 dynamic

Please note: If you have a duplicate IP on the network:

First check if you can log into AMETHYST webadmin. Then you
know that the IP is now pointing to the AMETHYST server,
therefore you can run the 'arp -a' command to get the MAC
address as explained above.

Once the AMETHYST webadmin is not accessible any more, you can
then run the 'arp -a' command to get the MAC address of the
duplicate IP.

Make sure AMETHYST IP is not used on the network.
