(/dev/hdb1): Broken pipe OR Unknown device

In the error message hdb1 usually refers to the system drive, depending on how it was
connected. The backup must be done to the hda1 drive, which is usually the removeable drive
for archiving.

on the drive is drawing that will indicate the primary drive dip switch settings
