How do I add an extension for recording(trunk side solution)

I am using trunk side recording with a Mitel PABX, I want to add an extension for recording. What configuration, etc. is required?

Overview:

Trunk side recordings will record all calls via the trunks enabled for recording. Recordings made will not have an extension number. We need to get call details from the PABX to get the extension number. If no call details tied to the recording, it will show EXT and can reject due to licensing. If call details is tied to the recording only recordings for licensed extension is loaded into AMETHYST.


Required:

  • AMETHYST licenses for number of extensions to be added for recording:

  • Call details from the PABX, else you have no extension number for your recording. With the Mitel PABX call details is provided by AMTMitel.

Steps to follow:

  • Add the extension number to the device list in AMETHYST. See forum post -

  • With trunk side recording, you need call details from the PABX to display the extension number. To have a user name the extension number must be linked to a user name.

    • If you are uing a Mitel PABX:
      • To display a user name, you need to configure the user names on the Mitel side(Mitel phone book), the AMTMitel will also pick it up and use it in AMETHYST as user name. See forum link: I use a Mitel and I don't get usernames next to recordings

      • You also need the Call details to supply extension number for the trunk side recording. Use the AMTMitel software to receive call details for the devices to be monitored (call details). See forum post:

        Note: AMTMitel does not handle the start and stop of the recording, it only provides the call details. If no call details, it will not have for example the telephone number.
    • If you use AMTTAPILink (with for example the Panasonic PABX) the call details for all extension will be sent to the Cardserver and it will decide which to send to AMETHYST. If you receive call details for one extension then your configuration is setup correct. For AMTTapiLink configuration see forum post: AMTTAPILink & Mitel
  • Check on the Device List if your test cal loaded. If not, go to 'View Call History' on the Home page and click on the sweeper log to see what the problem could be. If no entries, check the Reject log for time of the test call for error messages. Search the forum for log entry.
