Virtual Server specifications for Datatex Products

Postby Leon van Heerden » Wed Mar 19, 2014 7:25 pm

We have worked through our existing clients with larger sites and checked the hardware specs and performance to setup these calculations.

PLEASE NOTE that on HyperV it is recommend that the CPU are doubled after the calculations are completed.

The following information will be required to calculate the specs for Amethyst:
1. Number of recorded physical extensions
2. Number of recorded USERS (Hotdesk/ ACD agents)
3. Number of Supervisors with logins
4. Number of years that client needs to keep live recordings and number of years to keep archived calls.

With this info you can now estimate the size of the servers required:
1. If there are more than 100 Extensions to record, the Amethyst and CRE should be on separate servers.
2. The USERS are used for the disk space calculation and not the extensions.

Recording Software covers the following:
  • Datatex Mitel CRE
  • Datatex Sip Recorder (VOIP solutions)
  • Datatex Lync Recorder

Disk space required:
Live Recordings on the Amethyst server =
[50 Gig for OS] + [50 Gig if the Recording Software on same server] + [50Gig per 50 concurrent users that need to be recorded on this server]+ [4 gig of space per USER per year] X [The amount of years the client needs to access live recordings]

Recording Servers
[50 Gig for OS] + [50 Gig for the Recording Software ] + [50Gig per 50 concurrent users that need to be recorded on this server]

Archive Recording space (on external storage location like a Windows Share) =
[4 gig of space per USER per year] X [The amount of years client needs to access historic data]

CPU:
Amethyst Base Server =
(MAX CPU=16)
[4 CPU] + [1 CPU for every 10th concurrent Supervisor] + [1 CPU for every 100th recorded USER]

Amethyst & Recording Software combined Server =
(Max 100 recorded devices)
(MAX CPU=16)
[4 CPU] + [1 CPU for every 10th concurrent Supervisor] + [1 CPU for every 100th recorded USER] + [3 CPU for CRE]

Standalone Recording Software Server =
(MAX CPU=16)
(MAX Recorded devices=2000)
We recommend to split Mitel CRE services across multiple MBG servers per 2000 Extensions.
[2 CPU] + [1 CPU for every 100th Recorded Extension]

Memory:
Amethyst Base Server =
(MAX MEMORY=32 Gig)
[4 Gig] + [1 Gig for every 4th concurrent Supervisor] + [1Gig for every 100th USER]

Amethyst & Recording Software combined Server (Max 100 extensions) =
(MAX MEMORY=32 Gig)
(MAX Recorded devices = 100)
[4 Gig] + [1 Gig for every 4th concurrent Supervisor] + [1Gig for every 100th USER] + [2 Gig for Recording Software]

Standalone Recording Software Server =
(MAX MEMORY=32 Gig)
(MAX Recorded devices=2000)
We recommend to split Mitel CRE services across multiple MBG servers per 2000 Extensions.
[2 Gig] + [2 Gig for Recording Software] + [1 Gig for each 100 recorded devices]]

Network:
2 Interfaces per server minimum, to allow data and voice access where required.
When an VOIP recording solution is implemented one of these interfaces may be used to get the mirrored traffic from the switches. This may require an dedicated Network card on the VM infrastructure.

TES Server
CPU:
[2 CPU] + [1 CPU for every 1000th Extension]
(MAX=16)

Memory:
[2 Gig] + [1 Gig for every 1000th Extension]
(MAX=16)

Disk:
[50 Gig for OS] + [10 GIG per Year per 1000 users]
