AMETHYST 1.5 Supervisor stopped working

Postby Belinda Frick » Wed Nov 17, 2010 8:44 am

at least AMETHYST Supervisor 1.5.5.0 (included in AMETHYST upgrade 1.5.6.0 or newer)
The Supervisor had a bug when you start a search, close the browser before it finishes
and log in again it would hang or stop the Supervisor.

Scenarios:

When the AMETHYST Supervisor is running and you do not
log out, it uses the time out setting, and if reached
it will log you out. Time out is reset each time the supervisor
connects to the AMETHYST server.

Your session will still be open, but you will be returned
to the login page.

How do I set the time out duration?:

Login as the AMETHYST Supervisor.
Select the "Personal Supervisor Settings" icon.
Enter the "Supervisor Timeout" duration in seconds,
it will be displayed in h:mm:ss.

If the AMETHYST Supervisor login page is display, but it does
not except the login and password (and you are using the correct
login and password), it is possible that your AMETHYST has expired.
You need to license it. You can view this message in the Admin or
Server log.

How do I check for AMETHYST Server/Admin errors?:

Login as the AMETHYST Administrator.
Select the "View Logs".
Select the "Server Logs" or "Admin Logs".
Scan the logs for errors.

If you cannot access the AMETHYST Supervisor login page the
AMETHYST Supervisor is not running anymore. Log into AMETHYST
Administrator and start the AMETHYST Supervisor. If this is
the case then, you must check the logs for reasons why the
Supervisor could have crashed or stopped running.

How do I check for AMETHYST Supervisor errors?:

Login as the AMETHYST Administrator.
Select the "View Logs".
Select the "Supervisor Logs".
The date time is displayed, followed by the version and then the message.
[2005-10-19 08:51:59] Version [1.5.0.4]User ... connected from 192....
In this extract a user connected from an IP starting with 192.
Scan the logs for an error for the supervisor in question.
The newest entry is at the bottom of the screen.
